The Developer Conference at Scale

MongoDB World is the company's largest annual event: a multi-day developer conference bringing together thousands of engineers, architects, and database practitioners from around the world. For MongoDB, it's not just a conference. It's the clearest possible expression of what the brand stands for: open, powerful technology in the hands of builders.

I led creative direction across multiple years of MongoDB World, owning the event identity from initial concept through to on-site execution, including keynote stage design, expo booth presence, motion content, session graphics, and a full suite of promotional assets.

Built for Builders

Developer audiences are notoriously difficult to impress with traditional event creative. Generic tech conference aesthetics (glowing grids, stock photography of servers, abstract data visualizations) land flat with people who actually build the things those images are meant to represent.

The approach for MongoDB World was to root the creative in the culture of the community: the craft of building, the joy of solving complex problems, the genuine excitement of open-source momentum. Motion content celebrated "did you know" moments from MongoDB's history and ecosystem. Speaker intros were dynamic, confident, and fast. The entire visual identity was built to feel like it belonged at a developer conference, not a generic enterprise event dressed up in green.
